Thank You Mr. Toshi Shinmura

 Toshi recently retired as head instructor at the Regina Y Judo Club  marking an end to 39 years of unwavering service to the Judo community.

Over his coaching career Toshi has:

  • Held the Chair of Saskatchewan Officials for 10 years
  • Member of Judo Saskatchewan Grading board for 12 years
  • Attained his Godan
  • Achieved the rank of National A referee
  • Instructed special self-defense classes for the Regina City Police and RCMP.
  • Founder and Head Sensei of Seidokan from 1978 – 1998
  • Head instructor for the Regina Y Judo club from 1998-2016.
  • Developed countless national and international level competitors and medalists.
  • The first recipient of the Jim O’Sullivan award for long term service to Judo in Saskatchewan

The skills and wisdom Toshi taught has developed Judoka to become successful, contributing members of society here in Saskatchewan and around the world.

Toshi’s contribution to Judo has left a positive mark in Regina as a builder of this great sport and great people.

His legacy and teachings will be passed down through the Regina Y Judo Club and the Judo Saskatchewan community.
